I am writing to you about our government's initiative to give consumers easier access to credit information. This initiative will give Ontario consumers the strongest rights in Canada over information held by credit reporting agencies.
This measure will do the following:
1) Give consumers online access to their credit report and current credit score at least two times per year, free of charge.
2) Include in a consumer report, any credit scores given to third parties in the past 12 months.
3) Implement a credit freeze, at the request of a consumer, to help reduce identity theft.
This is part of our plan to improve the quality of life for all Ontario residents.
